printed on special white, non-fluorescent paper. The Trident depiction is a
watermark on the banknotes with face-value 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 Hryvnias, issued in 1992. ObverseOn the banknote obverse there are depicted: portraits of some outstanding persons in the history and literature of Ukraine, inscriptions "UKRAINE" or "UKRAINE" and "NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE", face value of banknotes in letters and figures and the year of issue. Ornaments and rosettes in colour printing are a complement of the design. The portraits, inscriptions and certain decorative elements are made with relief printing. ReverseOn the banknote reverse there are depicted historical and architectural monuments of Ukraine, with the inscription "NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE" above them. The banknote face value is printed in letters and figures. Rosettes, ornaments and ribbons in colour printing are a complement of the design.
1. Watermark on the banknotes of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 Hryvnias denomination (1992) is a light TRIDENT depiction, made within the internal paper structure. It is replicated throughout the banknote's plane and is visible against the light; on the banknotes, issued later there is a depiction of a portrait, made within the internal paper structure, copying the one on the banknote obverse.

on the banknotes of
1(1995), 2 (1995) and 5 (1997) Hryvnias denominations is vertically placed (between the
watermark and the portrait) 1,3 mm-wide polymeric metal thread with a coded denomination,
which is seen against the light as a dark line with transparent inscription "1
HRYVNIA", "2 HRYVNIAS", "5 HRYVNIAS" which is replicated; 3. Relief elements - print elements on banknotes of 2 (1995), 5 (1994, 1997), 10 (1994), 20 (1995), 50 and 100 Hryvnias denominations, projecting over the paper surface, which can be felt by touch. 4. Corresponding pattern is a pattern, located at one side of the banknote obverse and reverse, all elements of which concur with one another by looking at a banknote against the light (ornament on the left side). 5. Printing with iris effects is gradual conversion of one colour of the protective grid, made with unbroken lines into another (protective grids and ornaments on the banknote sides). 6. Antiscanner grid is the combination of thin lines positioned at various angles, which form protective grids on a copy in case of scanning or copying. 7. Latent image is a latent digital denomination depiction on the banknote of 2 (1995), 5 (1994, 1997), 10 (1994), 20 (1995 ), 50 and 100 Hryvnias denominations, visible against the light at the angle of 45 degrees (rectangular ornament on the right from the portrait) and a latent TRIDENT depiction (digital denomination depiction at the top corners of obverse of the banknotes of 2-20 Hryvnias denominations 1992). 8. Microtext is an inscription of continuously replicated word UKRAINE and NBU's abreviation, which can be read with a magnifying glass. 9. Sign for the blind is a relief element, located at the lower obverse corner of the banknote with the face value of 2 (1995), 5 (1994, 1997), 10 (1994), 20 (1995), 50 and 100 Hryvnias, which shows the banknote face value and can be felt by touch. 10. Visible security fibers are blue 6 mm- long fibres, chaotically placed within the paper fabric and upon the banknote obverse and reverse (face value of 1-20 Hryvnias of 1992), blue and red fibres - for 1, 2, 5 Hryvnias denomination (1994-1997).

Fluorescent number is the banknote number, printed in relief horizontally with black ink (face value of 1 - 20 Hryvnias,1992) and with red ink (face value of 1 (1994, 1995), 2 (1995), 5 (1994, 1997), 10 (1994), 20 (1995) Hryvnias) and printed vertically (face value of 50 and 100 Hryvnias). This number is fluorescent in UV-rays with green light (face value of 1-20 Hryvnias,1992) and light-red light (face value of 1 (1994, 1995), 2 (1995), 5 (1994, 1997), 10 (1994), 20 (1995), 50 and 100 Hryvnias). 13. Magnetic number is the banknote magnetic number and series printed in relief horizontally in one row with black ink (face value of 1 (1994, 1995), 2 (1995), 5 (1994, 1997), 10 (1994), 20 (1995), 50 and 100 Hryvnias). 14. Latent denomination is the face value printed with invisible ink in the middle of banknote obverse, excluding banknote with face value of 1 (1994, 1995), 2 (1995), 5 (1994, 1997), 10 (1994), 20 (1995) Hryvnias, which is fluorescent in UV-rays with green light. 15. Fluorescent elements is design elements of the banknote obverse and reverse and a coded picture (50 and 100 Hryvnias), fluorescing in UV-rays with yellow, green or yellow and green light (depending on the face value). 16. High printing used for printing numbers of banknotes.It leaves the ink imprint on the paper; which is reinforced from the edges and makes a deep trace in relief. As a rule,the paper has a prominent imprint in relief on the back side. 17.Orloff printing (off-set and intaglio) is clean-cut conversion of one colour into another without breaking or mixing of picture lines (portrait, inscriptions, ribbons, ornaments). |
