Commemorative coin of 100 Hryvnias denomination is dedicated to the golden
Pectoral (4-th century B.C.), the unsurpassed masterpiece of Hellenic and
Scythian art found at the "Tovsta Mohyla" burial mound in Dnepropetrovsk region
(1971). The archaeologist Boris M. Mozolevskiy who found this moonlike
three-tier decoration of a Scythian tsar called it as "the piece of work of
majestic symphonic sounding and deep philosophic meaning. Like a drop of dew it
reflects not only the shine of Scythian gold but also the great heart of the
whole nation".
 |
On the coin obverse
there is a depiction of a twisted plait with a vegetable ornamentation fragment,
separating the pectoral tiers. In the middle of it there is the small State
Emblem of Ukraine and the coin mintage year - 2003, as well as
inscriptions: ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ, 100 ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ, the designation of metal - Au 900 and its
pure weight - 31,1; On the coin obverse there is also the Mint logo of the
National Bank of Ukraine.

 |
On the coin reverse
upon the background of a Scythian burial mound there is the pectoral depiction
with enlarged fragments of its upper tier: above - there is a mare with her colt
standing on the top of a burial mound; beneath - there are two men stretching
out an animal skin.
