The coin is dedicated to a rodent, which inhabits the Ukrainian steppes and
since autumn till spring falls into hibernation hiding in a burrow. The time
of marmot’s awakening is a sign of early or delayed spring.

On the coin obverse the Small National Emblem of Ukraine, the coin
issue year 2007, designation of Au 999,9 (on the left) and weight in
fineness 1,24 and the NBU Mint logotype (on the right) are placed within the
beads ring; between the beads ring and the coin rim there are inscriptions:
ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ ÁÀÍÊ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ (National Bank of Ukraine) (above), and 2 ÃÐÈÂͲ
(2 Hryvnias) (below)
