The coin is dedicated to commemorate 55 Years of liberation of Ukraine from Nazis, to honour those people who took part in military operation, disabled veterans of the war of 1941-1945, labour veterans, to remember the blessed memory of those perished in the struggle against fascism.

On the coin obverse there is the Small State Emblem of Ukraine framed with spikes of wheat and inscriptions: ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ, 2 ÃÐÈÂͲ, 1999.

On the coin reverse there is a depiction of  laurel spray - symbol of glory, blade of a sword, salute stars and inscription: 55, ÐÎʲÂ, ÂÈÇÂÎËÅÍÍß, ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ, Â²Ä ÔÀØÈÑÒÑÜÊÈÕ, ÇÀÃÀÐÁÍÈʲÂ.
