The coins are dedicated to 400th anniversary of  Bohdan Khmelnytsky - the Hetman of Ukraine, outstanding statesman, political and military figure of 17th century, who made significant contribution to the formation of Ukrainian statehood at one of the most dramatic periods of the liberation war of Ukrainian people in 1648-1654.

On the coin obverse there is the small State Emblem of Ukraine in the middle of the beads circumference decoration, framed with guelder-rose sprays. Above the State Emblem there is the year of issue -1996. Around the coin circumference there are inscriptions: ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ - above and 1 ̲ËÜÉÎÍ ÊÀÐÁÎÂÀÍֲ - underneath in three lines. Left and right from figure 1 there are designations of Àg 925 and 15,55, coin's pure weight.

On the coin obverse there is the Small State Emblem of Ukraine in the middle of the beads circumference decoration, framed with guelder-rose sprays. Above the State Emblem there is the year of issue - 1995. The two line inscription 200000 ÊÀÐÁÎÂÀÍÖ²Â, the coin face value, is beneath the small State Emblem (200000 number is split by the beads ornamentation). Between the external edge and the beads ornamentation, around the circumference there is an inscription ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ ÁÀÍÊ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ split with rhombic separative marks from the word ÊÀÐÁÎÂÀÍÖ²Â. External rim is projected above the coin surface.


On the coin reverse in the center there is the photographic picture of Bohdan Khmelnytsky monument at the Sophia square in Kyiv. Around the circumference there is an inscription ÁÎÃÄÀÍ on the left, ÕÌÅËÜÍÈÖÜÊÈÉ - on the right, 1595-1657 - against a background of the pedestal.
