The coin is dedicated to 200th
anniversary since the birth of Volodymyr Daal' (1801-1872), the writer,
ethnographer and the author of the well-known Russian language vocabulary.
Daal's home was Lugansk region, which was represented in his pseudonym: Cosak of
Lugansk.

On the coin obverse in its centre there is a composition made of books, roll, sheets of paper and
inkstand with a pen; above there is the small State Emblem of Ukraine, around
the coin circumference there are inscriptions: ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ, 2, ÃÐÈÂͲ, 2001 and the
Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.

On the coin reverse
there depicted Volodymyr Daal' portrait, beneath a pen is depicted under which
there is conventionalized inscription: ÊÎÇÀÊ ËÓÃÀÍÑÜÊÈÉ. Around the coin
circumference there are inscriptions: ÂÎËÎÄÈÌÈÐ ÄÀËÜ and 1801-1872.
