The coin is dedicated to the
120th anniversary of Heorhii Narbu's birth (1886-1920), who was a
prominent painter, coryphaeus of the
Ukrainian graphic arts. He became one of the founders of the Ukrainian
Academy of Arts and later on its president. Narbut made sketches of the Ukrainian
banknotes in the time of the Ukrainian People's Republic (UPR) and developed a
set of the national symbols.

On the coin obverse a fragment of 1918 design banknote is depicted -
a peasant woman and a workman against the background of a garland of flowers
and fruits, above which there are the year of issue - 2006, the Small
National
Emblem of Ukraine and semicirclar inscription: ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ ÁÀÍÊ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ
(National Bank of Ukraine); beneath: 2/ ÃÐÈÂͲ (2 / hryvnia) and the logotype of the National Bank
of Ukraine Mint.

On the coin reverse
there is Heorhii Narbut's portrait in silhouette, to the right - the
coat of arms of the family
of Narbuts, thereunder - the years of life:
1886/1920 and the inscription: ÃÅÎÐÃ²É ÍÀÐÁÓÒ (Heorhii Narbut) located as a
semicircle.
