The coin is dedicated to Volodymyr Korolenko
(27.07.1853 - 25.12.1921), a writer, publicist, public figure and humanist, who
was born in the town of Zhytomir. The writer's life and creative work is closely
associated with the Ukrainian people and its culture. In his stories and tales
"The noise of the forest", "The Judgement Day", "In a bad company", "The blind
musician", "Paradox", Makar's dream" he depicts the beauty of the sole of
Ukrainian people, the beauty of Ukrainian nature and the way of life of the
Ukrainian people.

On the coin obverse
an open book is depicted, above which there is the Small State Emblem of Ukraine
and inscriptions: ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ (above in semicircle), 2003, 2 ÃÐÈÂͲ (beneath), as
well as the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.

there is a portrait of V.Korolenko and on both sides - the four-line
inscription: ÂÎËÎÄÈÌÈÐ (left), ÊÎÐÎËÅÍÊÎ (right) and 1853-1921 - his years of
life (beneath in two lines).
