Circulation Coins General Characteristics of Circulation Coins
On the coin obverse there is a TRIDENT depiction in the centre, i.e. the coat of arms of Ukraine, framed on both sides with an ornament of two oak leaves and two ears of wheat. There is a UKRAINE inscription above the coat of arms, and the year of coin mintage beneath it. On the coin reverse there is a digital designation of coin denomination, and beneath it - a corresponding inscription of "kopiika", "kopiikas", "hryvnia". The upper edge of the denomination letters is horizontal, the lower one has a downward arched form. The denomination is framed with a conventionalized wreath of leaves and berries. Both the coin obverse and reverse are framed unbroken salient edging along the perimeter. The rim of coins of 1 and 2 kopyika denominations is smooth, and that of 5, 10, 25 and 50 kopiikas denominations is corrugated. The rim of the coin of 1 Hryvnia denomination is inscribed with "ONE HRYVNIA" and "1995, 1996, 2001, 2002, 2003", separated with dots from one another.
