The coin is dedicated to the city of Kharkiv, one of the
largest industrial, scientific and cultural centres of Ukraine. The city was
founded about 1655 by Ukrainian Cossacks - migrators from the Right Bank
Ukraine as a fortress for defense of the Ukrainian territories from aggressive
attacks of conquerors.

On the coin obverse
there is the Bell tower of the Assumption Cathedral (1821 – 1848) is
depicted; above - the small State Emblem of Ukraine; to the left -
designation of metal - 5, to the right there is a semicircular inscription
ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ,
beneath - the ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ inscription and the coin mintage year– 2004.
Furthermore, there is the Mint logo of the National bank of
Ukraine.

On the coin reverse
there is a depiction
of the State Industry building (Derzhprom), the city visiting card,
which was built in the constructivism style (1928), above and to the left
there is the city coat of arms, beneath - a semicircular inscription ÕÀÐʲ • 350 ÐÎʲÂ.
