The coin is dedicated
to the city of Sumy, located at the picturesque right bank of the river Psel,
which was founded at the beginning of fifties of 17th century by
Ukrainian Cossacks-migrants from the Right Bank Ukraine.

On the coin obverse in
the centre there is a depiction of the small State Emblem of Ukraine, under
it – 2005, the coin mintage year and circular inscriptions: ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ ÁÀÍÊ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ ÏßÒÜ ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ
(beneath), as well as the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.

On the coin reverse the main
street of the city is depicted with the Saviour and Transfiguration
cathedral, upon the street background there is the coat of arm of city of
Sumy and semicircular inscriptions: ÑÓÌÈ (above), 350 ÐÎʲ (beneath).
