The coin is dedicated to a famous architectural and historical monument, a
great Orthodox monastery the first mention of which is dated back to 16th
century. Now its architectural complex contains 16 churches. Pochayiv Lavra
plays a significant role in the Orthodox spiritual tradition.

On the coin obverse there
are the following depictions: above - the star of Bethlehem, beneath of
which - ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ inscription, the small State Emblem of Ukraine and a
three-lined inscription: 2003, 10 ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ; beneath - the footstep
mark of Virgin Mary upon the conventionalized height of the Pochayiv hill,
to the left and right there are seraphs and below there is a two-lined
designation of metal Ag 925, its pure weight 31,1 and the Mint
logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.

On the coin reverse
there is a spacious composition of the Pochayiv monastic complex, above which
- the Protection of the Virgin, on both sides there is a circular
inscription: ÑÂßÒÎ-ÓÑÏÅÍÑÜÊÀ ÏÎ×À¯ÂÑÜÊÀ ËÀÂÐÀ.
