Commemorative coin of 20 Hryvnias denomination is dedicated to the city-state
Olviya, one of the most important centers of ancient material and spiritual
culture of Northern and North-Western Region of Black Sea coast, which was
founded at the beginning of 6th century B.C. at the Lower Bough
region (now it is the site of ancient settlement near village Parutino,
Mykolayiv region) and existed for about 1000 years. There was in the city quite
original coin production, manufacturing cast copper dolphin-figures and arrows,
which served as legal tender.

On the coin obverse
in the centre of internal ring and on the background of rye spikelets there is a
depiction of a symbolic wheel of history with a sitting falcon, gradually being
transformed into a trident, beneath of which, a snake is depicted and above,
there is the Small State Emblem of Ukraine; within the external ring, to the
left there is a depiction of a potter and to the right, a woman with children on
the background of a Greek column, the Mint logo and inscriptions: ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ / 2000
/ 20 / ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ.

On the coin reverse
within the internal ring there is a depiction of an Olviyan coin; within the
external ring there is an ornamental pattern and vase painting, which was
characteristic for that period and the inscription: ÎËܲß.
