The coins are dedicated to the Eurasian black vulture (Falconiformes order,
Accipitridae family), the sole species which in Ukraine nests
only in the Southern Crimea. The natural habitat of this species covers Southern
Europe and Asia (mountain regions). Black vulture is included to the Red Book of Ukraine
and the European Red List of animals and plants under the danger of
extermination.

On the coins obverse within framing of images made of some species of
flora and fauna there is the small National Emblem of Ukraine and the
inscriptions: on the silver coin: ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ/ ÁÀÍÊ/ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ/ 10/ ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ/
2008 (National bank of Ukraine/ 10/ Hryvnias/ 2008), as well as Ag
925, the designation of metal and 31,1g, its weight in fineness; on the German
silver coin: ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ/ ÁÀÍÊ/ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ/ 2/ ÃÐÈÂͲ/ 2008 (National bank
of Ukraine/ 2/ Hryvnias/ 2008). Furthermore, there is the National Bank of Ukraine Mint logotype on both coins.

On the coins reverse
there is a depiction of a black vulture with its baby bird in the nest and
there are semicircular inscriptions: AEGYPIUS MONACHUS (above) and ÃÐÈÔ ×ÎÐÍÈÉ
(Black vulture) (beneath).
