Commemorative coins of 10 and 2 Hryvnias denomination are dedicated to a
representative of the Spicular family, the only endemic species of the Black
Sea Hippocampus in the Fauna of Ukraine which is widespread in the Sea of Azov
and the Black Sea.

On the coin obverse
within the frame of a garland made of depictions of various species of flora and
fauna, there is the small State Emblem of Ukraine and four-line inscriptions:
ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ, 10, ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ, 2003 - on the silver coin, as well as designation of metal
and its standard - Ag 925 and its pure weight - 31.1 and ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ, 2, ÃÐÈÂͲ,
2003 - on the German silver coin. On both coins there is also the Mint logo of
the National Bank of Ukraine.
