The coins are dedicated
to Grasshopper Ukrainian (POECILIMON UKRAINICUS), the rare species of
grasshoppers which inhabits only the area of Ukraine and who is
on the endangered-species list of Ukraine

On the obverse of both coins, set in a wreath of images of certain flora
and fauna species, there is the Small National Emblem of Ukraine and
inscriptions: on the silver coin – ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ / ÁÀÍÊ / ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ / 10 /
ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ / 2006 (National Bank of Ukraine, 10 hryvnias, 2006); there is the
indication of metal and its fineness – Ag 925, weight in fineness – 31.1g;
on the German silver coin – ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ / ÁÀÍÊ / ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ / 2 / ÃÐÈÂͲ /
2006 (National Bank of Ukraine, 2 hryvnias, 2006). The logo of the National
Bank of Ukraine Mint is placed on both coins. |

On the coins reverse
of both coins there is a cricket on a grass stem and the
semicircular inscriptions say: ÏÈËÊÎÕ²ÑÒ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÑÜÊÈÉ (Ukrainian bush
cricket) above and POECILIMON UKRAINICUS below.
