The coin is dedicated to the Kyiv Zoological gardens,
founded in 1908. This zoo contains over 3500 species of animals and birds. Work on acclimatization of many animals is conducted here, great attention
is paid to breeding of animals in captivity, especially, of rare endangered
species.

On the coin
obverse there is a composition depicting a circle divided by the
wind rose into four parts symbolizing classes of mammalian, birds,
fishes and amphibious, which are represented in the zoo; above there is the
small National Emblem of Ukraine and inscriptions: ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ ÁÀÍÊ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ
(National Bank of Ukraine) (left, in semicircle), beneath: 2/ ÃÐÈÂͲ
2008 (2/Hryvnia 2008) and the NBU Mint logotype.

On the coin
reverse there is a conventionalized inscription: ZOO, inside of which
there is a depiction of a giraffe and inscriptions: 100/ðîê³â (100 Years),
ÊȯÂÑÜÊÎÌÓ ÇÎÎÏÀÐÊÓ (to the Kyiv Zoo).
