Ñoins are dedicated to a new generation aircraft for transporting both air travellers and up to 6 tons cargo. Its forerunner is AN-24 aircraft which has been already in service for forty years. AN-140 aircraft performed its first flight in 2002. It has high performance capability and is in serial production at Kharkiv aircraft factory.

On the coin obverse  at the centre of the beads circle there is the small State Emblem of Ukraine placed within the frame of allegoric composition made of sun, conventionalized wing, birds and stars which is the incarnation of the dream of mankind to reach outer space, and circular inscriptions:
on the silver coin - ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ, 2004, 10, ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ, as well as designation of metal Ag 925 and its pure weight - 31,1;

on the German silver coin - ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ, 2004, 5, ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ. On both coins there is the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.

On the coin reverse there is a depiction of AN-140 aircraft and there are circular inscriptions between  the coin external rim and the beads circle: ˲ÒÀÊÈ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ (above), ÀÍ-140 and AN-140 (beneath); between them there is AN logo.
