The coin is dedicated to 70th anniversary of
putting into operation the first and the largest hydroelectric power station of
Dnipro cascade (Zaporizhzhia), built in 1927-1932. The construction of the first
Ukrainian power station was of great importance for development of metalurgical
industry, mechanical engineering and agriculture of the Eastern and South
Ukraine.

On the coin obverse within the internal ring there are depicted: a turbine with the engine room arch
of the power station, the small State Emblem of Ukraine, the coin mintage year -
2002, and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine. Within the external
ring there are circular inscriptions: ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ, 5 ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ.
