The coins are dedicated to the
140th birth anniversary of birth of Mykhailo Hrushevskyi (1866 – 1934), a
leading personality in the national culture and statehood renaissance of Ukraine,
literary critic, writer, sociologist,
publicist, the author of a comprehensive study of the Ukrainian history.

On obverse of both coins there are above - the Small National Emblem
of Ukraine, under which there is the inscription - ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ ÁÀÍÊ/ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ
(National Bank of Ukraine), elements of the conventionalized ornament are depicted
diagonally, to the left - the coin face value: on the silver
coin - 5 ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ/ 2006 (5 Hryvnia/2006), designation of the metal Ag 925 and
its weight in fineness; on the coin of German silver - 2 ÃÐÈÂͲ/ 2006 (2
Hryvnia/2006). On both coins there is the logotype of the National
Bank of Ukraine Mint .

On the coin reverse
there is a portrait of Mykhailo Hrushevsky, to the left there is the vertical
inscription: ÌÈÕÀÉËÎ/ ÃÐÓØÅÂÑÜÊÈÉ (Mykhailo Hrushevskyi), beneath there are
the years
of life: 1866/ 1934.
