The coin is dedicated
to the town of Korosten' (annalistic Iskorosten'), one of the ancient
towns in the territory of Ukraine (Zhytomir region), which was first mentioned
in Nestor's Tale of bygone years" for the year of 945.

On the coin obverse
it is depicted: in the centre there is the small State Emblem of Ukraine,
under it – 2005, the coin mintage year and circular inscriptions: ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ ÁÀÍÊ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ ÏßÒÜ ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ
(beneath), as well as the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.

On the coin reverse there is
a depiction of the town panorama, on the foreground there is a silver earring
(dated before 946), which was found during an archeological dig on the
territory of the town, at the top right corner there is the coat of arm of
the town of Korosten', as well as inscriptions: 1300/ ÐÎʲÂ, above to the
left and ÊÎÐÎÑÒÅÍÜ, beneath and in semicircle.
