The coin is dedicated to
130th anniversary of Volodymyr P.Filatov, an outstanding
ophthalmologist and a surgeon whose greatest discovery was a tissue therapy - a
principally new medical treatment method. Volodymyr Filatov is a brilliant
representative of a Pleiad of scientists who have enriched world medical
science with distinguished achievements. He was a founder of the national
scientific school of ophthalmologists, a foundation initiator and a director of
Odesa scientific and research institute for eye-diseases and tissue therapy.

On the coin obverse there is a depiction of a conventionalized
diagram of a man's eye optical system and 2 ÃÐÈÂͲ, the coin face value;
above there is the Small State Emblem of Ukraine under which there is a
semicircular ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ inscription, beneath - 2005 (the coin mintage year) and
the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.

On the coin reverse
there is a portrait of Volodymyr Filatov, displaced right from the centre;
left there is an inscription ÂÎËÎÄÈÌÈÐ Ô²ËÀÒΠ1875/1956, made as a chart for
eyesight checking.
